The full story... I've been I have been playing guitar since the early 1990s, and teaching guitar and music technology since the late 1990’s/early 2000’s. I’ve had a number of private guitar and piano tutors myself over the years, and enjoyed my first formal academic music experience at Flinders St School of Music in 1999. I later undertook a music studies degree at Adelaide University’s Elder Conservatorium in 2006, graduated in 2008, and finalised my academic studies with honours in music technology in 2013. In my final undergraduate year (2008), I also completed the two semester instrumental music teaching (pedagogy) course offered at the time under Rodney Smith and Ruth Saffir. As well as playing in a number of local bands over the years, including a lead guitar role in Adelaide original rock outfit ‘Guilt Free’, I worked for Avid Technology from 2009-2016 as the Sibelius software specialist, demonstrator, and support person for Australia, New Zealand and much of the wider Asia-Pacific region. I have also taught Sibelius formally at Adelaide University since 2012. Alongside studio teaching, I currently work in a support and training role for the Adelaide based music technology consulting and sales firm known as Music Education Network. Sibelius is very much second nature to me now, and I have helped countless users of all ages, take control of the software for a wide range of music/education needs and styles. While Sibelius and Pro-Tools are my main tools of choice for music notation, composition, arranging, editing and recording, I now possess a very deep understanding of music technology tools, and can apply this to aid my students in mastering whatever music software/hardware they wish to work with. |
